UpdateWe are happy to announce that HWDMediaShare 1.1.4 has been released.

The release sees improvements and new features added to the component. Firstly we have included a new plugin which allows you to automatically tweet new media when it is added to your site.

We have also improved our activity feed seen in groups and the media pages (if selected for commenting) so that they are more descriptive for the specific activities. On top of this we have included a new module in the addon pack called 'Media Activities'. This is a module for the HWD activity feed meaning you can now use this module to place a list of your user's activities in any module position.

Surf Ecuador

This week, our HWDMediaShare website of the week goes to surfecuador.ec. We first stumbled across this site on twitter and instantly liked it. When you load the site, we feel it makes a fresh and engaging impact. Brilliant videos, loads of information and whats even better; great use of HWDMediaShare! The site really caught our eye and we felt we just had to share.

If you have a Developer subscription with HWD you get granted early access, but what does this mean? Well simply that you can get our new modules and plugins earlier.

So far Developers have received access to the Youtube videoBoxHWD JWPlayerCNN videoBox and Flickr photoBox early. However, the good news is we have more to come.

UpdateWe are pleased to announce that HWDMediaShare 1.1.3 has been released.

This release sees a host of improvements. Firstly we have edited the remote media upload so that there is a supported sites list, based on the plugins you are using. This will help your users to know where they can add remote media from.

We have also added initial open graph support for inserting media into your Facebook feeds. This means you can play videos directly in the feed.

HWDMediaShare offer discounts to new and existing users, and also to users from other partner networks. These coupons will be applied automatically in the case of renewals, or can be redeemed manually by entering them during checkout.

HWDMediaShare has a feature where you can easily encode watermarks permanently to your videos and images. This allows you to upload the image you want to use as a watermark so that you can create your own branding. It is perfect if you have a company logo or a particular image you want associated with your site.

Al Duccino

This week's site of the week goes to alduccino.com. This is a fairly new site but even so we found it impossible to ignore. It looks great and contains some really interesting blog posts (which are directly relevant to our community).

As yet, few details have been declared to the general public about the new US ‘six strike’ online piracy program which is set to be implemented by American Internet providers soon. The voluntary system aimed at copyright infringement is backed by the film and music industry as well as the top five largest internet providers in the US. Comcast, Time Warner Cable, AT&T, Cablevision and Verizon supply approximately 85% of American internet users.

A leaked document on TorrentFreak revealed the set-up for the six ‘strikes’. It was suggested that the first two strikes would be delivered warnings to the recipient. After that, the third and fourth strikes would redirect those in question to a site where they would have to acknowledge their actions. Finally, the fifth and sixth strikes would decrease the customers’ download speeds to a relative comparison to that of just above a past dial-up connection. If customers wanted to appeal this decision, they would have to pay 35 dollars for a review to plea their innocence.

UpdateWe are pleased to announce that HWDMediaShare 1.1.2 has been released.

This release sees the inclusion an option to set your player's dimension after some talk in this area. On top of this we have added code to the main project to reduced the risk of timeouts in long video conversions.

There is also an update to our sharing feature so that the social sharing is now more consistent across the social network platforms.

As well as this we have made improvements to the layout and aesthetics of the HWDMediaShare administrator in Joomla 3.

The release of HWDMediaShare 1.1.2 includes bugfixes, notably fixes to prevent users from updating aliases when modifying titles in the frontend. As well as these there are of course other fixes and improvements.

Geoffresh Productions

This week's site of the week goes to geoffresh.com. Looking at their site we enjoyed their use of hwdMediaShare and found some great video blogs. Their beer movie review concept is truly revolutionary.
