As the hwdMediaShare project grows, it is our collective responsibility to move forward in a progressive, fair and legal direction. In the past, as the lead developer, I may have approached new feature requests with the initial attitude of "is it technically possible?". From my experience, it turns out most things are "technically possible".

If I want hwdMediaShare to grow and be respected by the community I must change this attitude to "is it technically possible and legal?". I do not want to imply that I have previously disregarded any legal concerns regarding the design however, I am taking steps to ensure hwdMediaShare fully complies with all third party Terms of Service in the future. It is our responsibility to ensure any third party plugins that are distributed with hwdMediaShare respect the Terms of the website they allow people to use. It is your responsibility to understand Third Party websites have Terms of Service which you must comply with. 

Amongst the software development community there is widespread violation of Terms of Service for the large video sharing websites. This is sometimes intentional, but can also be unintentional. However, this is not an excuse to fall in-line behind other developers. Some of the changes made to hwdMediaShare may result in a reduction in functionality. This will be avoided wherever possible because users may turn away from hwdMediaShare to seek alternative software. We will be sorry to see you go, but I feel this is the only sensible course of action to take.
