After a number of years the hwdVideoShare software finally moves into an official Beta stage of development. So what does this mean? It means the frequency and type of bugs and problems reported by our users has changed recently, prompting us to re-classify the stability of the software. We no longer consider the software to be in the initial stage of development. The hwdMediaShare project is now well established and has a popular following. Huge community input and bug reporting has resulted in 3 major re-writes of the software. The software strucutre is now stable and mainly bug free.

Now that we are in a Beta stage of development we are now looking to resolve mainly cosmetic bugs, especially with the templates. We can also dedicated more time to new template plugins, and significant new features. The software might still contain major bugs, which will obviosuly be fixed upon report from the community.

I was expecting tons of setup and troubleshooting time with this, and nothing of a sort happened. I installed the com and plug-ins and was adding Youtube videos 5 minutes later! The template it came with was actually the perfect colour match to my site so I was even fine with that. I haven't tried the mencoder/ffmpeg local conversions but I really don't need this for that. The youtube adding function works well enough.
