hwdVideoShare is difficult to setup if you are an inexperienced webmaster. This may sound odd, and we do our upmost to make hwdVideoShare as straightward and easy-to-use as possible, but hwdVideoShare can be complicated to configure correctly. This is due to the skills that are necessary to understand and maintain the third party video conversion software (FFMPEG and MENOCDER). This warning is mainly for those members who have limited experience of server management. Our software processes and converts video files with software called MENCODER and FFMPEG. This software is created by a company that IS NOT affiliated with Highwood Deisgn - but hwdVideoShare does use this software to convert videos.
- Knowledge of MENCODER and FFMPEG is required.
- Good knowledge and experience of working with your server distrubution is required.
- Experienced with (and access to) SSH is required.
We are trying to develop hwdVideoShare to be as user-friendly as possible, but basic knowledge about these problems is required.hwdVideoShare does require FFMPEG and MENCODER and FLVTOOL2 to function properly. If you have no idea what these are, and you have never used SSH before, and you are on a shared host then you will find it VERY difficult to get hwdVideoShare working.
