installing plugins 2 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi All,

I am trying to install some of the extra plugins , revver, veoh, etc. I receive an error

Upload templates - Failed
Failed to copy file: /var/www/vhosts/www.mysite.com/httpdocs/media/install_48bf344987fab/embed.gif to /var/www/vhosts/www.mysite.com/httpdocs/hwdvideos/plugin/thirdparty/jumpcut/embed.gif

No matter what I try to install. The portion of the response that concerns me is /httpdocs/media/. This is normally a TMP directory used to hold the temporarilly expanded code before it's installed. This directory on my site contains odd references to another component CIVICRM. this suggests some sort of overlap or database incompatibility between the two components. Anyone else experience this before I deleted my hwd installations, my civicrm installations and start anew?

I am using joomla 1.5.6
hwd's latest php5 based code on mysql 5.x

Try setting file permissions on these directories to 0777:

JoomlaRoot/media/
JoomlaRoot/tmp/
JoomlaRoot/hwdvideos/
JoomlaRoot/hwdvideos/... [set recursively]

If you are using Joomla 1.5, try disabling the FTP settings in the administrator and then try the plugin installation again.

Does that help?

Interesting! The entire httpdocs directory was set to 777 (a fearful state since one of my production sites was just hacked by that jerk the 'turkish hacker dude that got godaddy recently). But 777 did not save me. However disabling the FTP did,..can you explain? And is it only required to get my plugins installed?

Thank you for the fix btw

Not sure why, its a weird problem in Joomla 1.5 - I have not investigated it in depth. Anyway, you only need to disable it whilst you install. You can enable it again afterwards.
